A GOAT found riding in a vehicle driven by a suspected drunk driver in California was "resting comfortably" at an animal shelter Thursday.
A California Highway Patrol officer pulled over the vehicle near Hemet - about 130km east of LA - this week, the Los Angeles Times reported, and surprisingly found the full-grown, horned brown-and-white goat riding shotgun.
Two men who were in the vehicle refused to claim ownership of the goat, according John Welsh from the Riverside County Animal Services Department, which led authorities to believe it had been stolen.
"Neither of the men claimed the female goat as their own animal," Mr Welsh said. "So we suspect the goat may have been stolen."
Mr Welsh said the "hot" goat was resting comfortably at the shelter.
